So in case you neglected to read the post title, there is a ton of new stuff happening in my life, some small some smaller ;), that I wanted to share. Here goes.
I finished a book by a new-to-me author recently called “Auralia’s Colors”. It was really good and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy/fairy tales/just a good story. I am on to the next book in the series called “Cyndere’s Ember”. I was about mid way through posting a new my book review of Auralia’s Colors using Mozilla’s Flock browser’s blog posting tool, but I think saving a post through flock doesn’t save the draft to Wordpress, instead saving to the local machine (which doesn’t help me since I like to blog from multiple machines). But suffice it to say I will be posting that soon for any who are interested :).
Speaking of Flock, I like it so far as a browser and I would recommend it to anyone who is a big social mediaphite, but it is a little to early to tell if I will trade in my trusty Firefox for it. I’ll keep you, posted (see what I did there with my blog humor).
For those of you who are my Facebook friends you probably saw my status this past sunday, but in case not I will say it again, I am under 200lbs!! The last time I remember being under 200 was in early highschool and it feels so good to have met that goal for myself. The next goal I have is to get down to 180, though this might be a little slower mainly because I am not on the full regiment of Advocare products I would like to be on, because of me and my wife’s reduced budget. Why is it reduced you ask?
Well last week was the first week that I started receiving my reduced pay, it got cut by 8%. Of course this isnt the end of the world, I would rather take a cut than lose my job, still a bummer though. Here’s hoping the economy improves so more people that have lost their job and haven’t been employed for months (read “my wife”) can get work. Though I should say Kristy started nannying for a nine-month old this week, and though she is not making as much as she was for the last family she nannied for, it is certainly still a blessing.
I am also being blessed with more freelance work, I got the signed contract this week to redesign the Reverse Spin Records website (Reverse Spin Records is the label who’s artists, ChinaBlak and Ciara Corr, were the ones I designed sites for previously). I also am juggleing that with the site for me and Kristy’s AdvoCare business (you can preview the homepage here) and a new portfolio design. With these two sites I am implementing jQuery pretty extensively and I love how much I am able to do that previously I could only achieve using Flash. Let me tell you, with all these side projects, finding time to play video games has become a challenge…
…but not impossible ;). Kristy and I are up to chapter 3 on World of Goo. Now we are using goo balls that expolde when they are ignited with fire. I just love the overall design of the game and each level looks like it was crafted with a lot of care. I am not sure I ever posted a pic or video of this game but here is one below. And if you don’t have a Wii, I do believe that you can buy this for the PC. So if you like quirky, Tim Burton-esque puzzle games (there’s just so many of them ;)) then do yourself a favor and pick up World of Goo.
Finally though Kristy and I don’t get to go to the movies that often (and when we do it is usually the 4 dollar theater where movies are re-released before they come out on DVD) here are the movies I am getting really excited about:
- Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
- Terminator Salvation
- 9
- Up
- Star Trek
- Public Enemies
So enough about me, what’s happening with you?

The trailer for World of Goo looks really cool and fun! I might just have to dust off the Wii and get it.
Congrats on the freelance gigs and I hope things stabilize for you at work. Just enjoy the things you have control of, like your weight loss.
